Database and Administration

What Does Database Means?
Traditional databases are organized by fields, records, and files. A field is a single piece of information; a record is one complete set of fields; and a file is a collection of records. For example, a telephone book is analogous to a file. It contains a list of records, each of which consists of three fields: name, address, and telephone number.

Database administration is when the yahoo mail ask you some fields to know who are you and they ask you what username and when you press check availability they will look in there data and if its available they will say it to you in the username space and if you press make an account after it yahoo mail will say that you have successfully made an account.

The Cycle of Data Processing

What is data processing?
Data processing is any computer process that converts data into information or knowledge. The processing is usually assumed to be automated and running on a computer. Because data are most useful when well-presented and actually informative, data-processing systems are often referred to as information systems to emphasize their practicality. Nevertheless, both terms are roughly synonymous, performing similar conversions; data-processing systems typically manipulate raw data into information, and likewise information systems typically take raw data as input to produce information as output.

Understanding files and filenames

Extension is a computer program that is not useful in its own right but designed to be incorporated in another piece of software
System Extension is a particular type of this software on the classic Mac OS
Extension (Mozilla), this type of software for Firefox and other Mozilla projects

Understanding files and filenames

A filename is a special kind of string used to uniquely identify a file stored on the file system of a computer. Some operating systems also identify directories in the same way. Different operating systems impose different restrictions on length and allowed characters on filenames. A filename includes one or more of these components

Understanding Files And File names

A computer file is a block of arbitrary information, or a resource for storing information, which is available to a computer program and is usually based on a durable storage. A file is durable in the sense that it remains available for programs to use after the current program has finished. Computer files can be considered as the modern counterpart of paper documents which traditionally were kept in offices' and libraries' files, which are the source of the term.

Difference Between Data And Information

What is the diff. between Data and information
The interchange of the words data and information is widespread, but M150 should help you to develop a clearer understanding of the differences between the two.
Data
Facts, statistics used for reference or analysis.
Numbers, characters, symbols, images etc., which can be processed by a computer.
Data must be interpreted, by a human or machine, to derive meaning
"Data is a representation of information" *
Latin 'datum' meaning "that which is given"
Data plural, datum singular (M150 adopts the general use of data as singular. Not everyone agrees.)
Information
Knowledge derived from study, experience (by the senses), or instruction.
Communication of intelligence.
"Information is any kind of knowledge that is exchangeable amongst people, about things, facts, concepts, etc., in some context." *
"Information is interpreted data" *
